Holiday Blessings for the Women & Children’s Center

Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year for most of us. What we sometimes fail to realize is that this season doesn’t always bring joy. Sometimes it is a reminder of the inability to provide and share in the traditional celebration of Christmas that most of us take for granted.

image2This year, we chose to share our blessings with the residents of the New Orleans Women & Children’s Center which houses homeless and battered women and children, along with pregnant women. The shelter has provided outreach and assistance for this population since 2007.

We worked with Mrs. Sidney Coleman, the director of the center, in completing the tall task of obtaining and delivering all the items on the wish list within 24 hours. We were given the mission of providing gifts to stock their holiday gift shop – where the women are able to “shop” for their children. This provides a sense of normalcy because they can personally choose the gifts they wish for their children.

image1After choosing the perfect gift for their child, each mother wraps those gifts, adding her own personal touch. Not only does this provide them with a Christmas experience, it provides them with things much greater than material needs; such as comfort, joy, happiness and a peace of mind. On top of providing gifts for the women to give to their children, we were able to complete the shelters wish list providing the basic necessities of toiletries and bedding that most people take for granted. This donation was done truly in the spirit of Christmas, and we are grateful beyond belief to be able to bestow so many blessings upon those in situations less fortunate than us. Always remember to keep Christ in Christmas, and that it is far better to give than it is to receive.

CHAMPS BOXING™️ Sponsors Local Race

This past weekend, David Jeansonne and his latest venture CHAMPS BOXING™️ sponsored the fourth annual Bursting with Speed 5k and half mile race!

The Bursting with Speed event is held in memory of Benny Burst, a faith-filled family man, and an avid runner. Burst was a native of the New Orleans area. In June 2013, Burst was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and began chemotherapy. A few months later, Burst lost his fight, and that is why the Bursting with Speed race is held to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS is the largest voluntary health foundation devoted to funding research, finding cures and ensuring access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

The race is hosted by the New Orleans Track Club, a not-for-profit organization and a member of the Road Runners Club of America and USA Track & Field. Additionally, CHAMPS BOXING™️ and other local organizations were able to sponsor the event. Pre-registered participants were eligible to win cash prizes and gifts donated by CHAMPS BOXING™️ and other sponsors.

CHAMPS BOXING™️is proud to support its local community. To learn more about CHAMPS BOXING™️, visit their website at!

David Sends a Student to Prom!

Recently, a teacher at a New Orleans high school told David about one of her students who couldn’t afford to go to prom. David immediately decided to sponsor the student. He made sure to cover all of the costs of the student’s prom, and he even provided his limo bus for the student’s transportation.

As luck would have it, on the night of the prom, David’s driver had an emergency and wasn’t able to pick up the students. Luckily David was able to call another bus to pick up the kids at the last minute.

At the end of the night, the student sent David a picture of himself at the prom, wearing a crown with a huge smile. This student, who hadn’t planned to go to the prom at all because of finances, had now become PROM KING!

David was grateful to be able to make a difference for this student. This is just another example of the power of doing the right thing and the rewards that come with it–not only for the student, but for David as well.

A Night Out for Charity: Carnivale Du Vin

David Jeansonne

David Jeansonne was proud to attend this year’s Carnivale Du Vin, a charity event hosted by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse. David was extremely humbled by the dedication and genuine care offered to those from lesser circumstances.

The Emeril Lagasses Foundation strives to motivate and teach young people, primarily from difficult backgrounds, and help them become positive, educated individuals.
